Mr. Calhoun's fifth graders are exploring chemical reactions. They have learned that sometimes when two solutions mix (ask them about solutions, too!) that a precipitate can form, which indicates that a chemical reaction has occurred! Today they mixed a magnesium sulfate solution with a sodium carbonate solution to form their precipitate.

This is a loose mock up of what the finished product of the painted asphalt games will include. We would like to thank all who made financial investments/donations to help keep our kids active and give them new joyful ways to have fun together. Please know our donors and supporters are continually in our prayers. πŸ™

The new asphalt on the large playground is in place! Painting for the new sensory playground started today on both playgrounds. It’s looking beautiful, and when Coach G and Sister Josephine went to school to check in on the contractor, they saw this beautiful horse and thought she had been added to the deal, because how nice would it be for squires to have a horse! πŸ˜‚ Unfortunately (really fortunately!) this horse was a part of a Cathedral wedding that was taking place and not a new addition to the SG community. We can’t wait for our kids to enjoy the new activities.

Mr. Calhoun's fifth grade students are learning about thermal expansion and thermal contraction. As the balloon is submerged into ice water, the air particles will lose heat energy and slow down, causing the balloon to shrink, or contract.
