The Arts and More

We believe a broad education in the arts helps give children a better understanding of their world.

  • The school features an 8,300 sq. ft. Science, Technology and Fine Arts building.

  • Spiraling Art projects revolve around a contemporary or master artist such as Monet, Kandinsky, Pollock, O’Keeffe, Van Gogh and more.

  • An Artist-in-Residence program creates collaborative opportunities between professional artists and classes throughout the year.

  • Live performance experiences include a vocal choir, violin strings program, dance, and drama.

  • The all-school Musical performance enables students to discover the world of theater with scores of music from past decades, held annually in May.

  • Physical Education classes are provided daily to enable students to build loco-motor and non-loco motor skills, and manipulative-based movement ability.

  • Technology is supported via our 1:1 Chromebook initiative beginning in second grade, digital instructional tools, and Internet access in all classrooms. Students also utilize the computer lab to learn basic productivity, including word processing, drawing, spreadsheets, and foundational computer programming concepts, in addition to specialized applications. Web-based multi-media instruction enhances learning at all grade levels.

  • The Library Media Center is an inviting facility that enables students to embrace a variety of authors and genres. The St. Gregory Reading Challenge immerses students in a host of literature which provides accelerated growth in reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.

Art Enrichment

The Visual Arts Enrichment program at St. Gregory Cathedral School introduces the students to the beauty and discipline of the art world. St. Gregory brings an artist from Dallas to the school for a week to instruct the students about a particular art genre and one of the premiere artists of that style.

Students' complete art projects and continue to work within the chosen genre for the entire school year. Students have studied pointillism (Georges Seurat), abstract expressionism (Jackson Pollock), and American modernism (Georgia O'Keeffe) to name a few.

Students use a wide variety of media. Students have "thrown" their own clay and delved into learning about the great Masters.  At St. Gregory, we believe that every student can create and express themselves through art.

Drama Enrichment

St. Gregory students participate in creative and dramatic activities throughout the year. Students are given the opportunity to learn various aspects of theater including impromptu skits, character development, voice projection and much more!

All students participate in the annual school Musical. Singing, acting, and dancing enriched learning through experiences in the performing arts.

Music Enrichment

The St. Gregory Cathedral School Choir is open to all interested students in Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade. Choir members gather twice each week to sing and make new friends.

The thirty-minute rehearsals provide an opportunity to sing an expanded repertoire of music including folk songs, musical comedy, sacred music, hymns, Christian rock, golden oldies, and songs for the seasons.
