2025-2026 Virtue: From our Religion Team
The theme for this school year is “Called To Be Holy.” St. Gregory Cathedral School will look to Saint Carlo Acutis as our Model Saint for the year.
Despite being a typical teenager, who enjoyed video games and soccer, Carlo developed a profound relationship with God, attending daily Mass and receiving communion regularly. He used his skills to create a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles, demonstrating how technology could be a tool for sharing faith. Carlo was diagnosed with a terminal illness and died at the young age of 15, offering up his suffering for the Church.
Carlo showed that holiness is not reserved for extraordinary acts, but can be found in daily life, in small acts of kindness and in a consistent effort to live out the virtues. He is a reminder that anyone can be a saint!
Our virtues this year are divided into monthly virtues. We ask each teacher to reinforce the virtues in their classrooms and have your students do an activity to help them recognize these virtues and how we speak (share the virtue) and act (see ourselves and others) living them. Each month the virtues will be introduced by the Religion teachers, but we need your help by reinforcing them in your classrooms. We will tie our virtues into the life of St. Carlo Acutis when possible, and we ask you to do the same.
Hang posters, class work, student ideas and activities that demonstrate them living the virtues and also celebrating Carlo’s life. Give out the ‘caught practicing virtue’ cards when you see the students living the virtues by example.
“The only thing we have to ask God for, in prayer, is the desire to be holy.”
St. Carlo Acutis
Saint Thomas Aquinas described human virtue as ultimum potentiae; meaning the limit of power, or the furthest point that human power can reach. We are most powerful as human beings when we choose to act with virtue. Our students will be invited to see VIRTUE as their SUPERPOWER.
