2024-2025 Virtue: From our Religion Team

Our school-wide virtue program is the Disciple of Christ, Education in Virtue Program, introduced through the school’s religion department. In prayer, our religious education team has chosen for Saint Gregory the virtues noted below as our areas of focus for the current school year.

We are joining Pope Francis in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year by designating our theme this year as a “Year of Prayer”.

In dedicating to a great “symphony” of prayer, our hope is to recover the desire to be in the presence of the Lord, to listen to him and adore him. We are blessed at St. Gregory to have the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel.

Our virtues this year are divided into monthly virtues.  We ask each teacher to reinforce the virtues in their classrooms and have their students do an activity to help them recognize these virtues and how we speak (share the virtue) and act (see ourselves and others) living them.  Each month the virtues will be introduced by the Religion teachers, and classroom teachers will reinforce them in the classrooms.  They might hang posters, class work, student ideas and activities that demonstrate them living the virtues.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love.  If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.” John 15:9-10

Saint Thomas Aquinas described human virtue as ultimum potentiae; meaning the limit of power, or the furthest point that human power can reach. We are most powerful as human beings when we choose to act with virtue. Our students will be invited to see VIRTUE as their SUPERPOWER.
