Sun Shelters Welcome in Record Texas Heat

With a record number of summer days over 100 degrees, the completion of the second playground sun shelter provides some relief to our children.  The shelters not only protect students from harmful UV rays, they significantly reduce the outside temperature underneath the awning.  The Sun Wise program has been added to the curriculum to complement the installation of the Sun Shelters.  This unit of instruction promotes sun-safe behavior by teaching children how to protect themselves from overexposure to ultraviolet radiation.
